Do you develop your own film?
Yes! We are proud to develop (most of) our film in our darkroom in Phoenix. Currently, we use different industry partners for the development of E6 Slide Film.
In the near future, we will be developing all of our film in-house.
What else do you do in the darkroom?
Besides developing our own film, we produce silver gelatin prints using both a Philips & an Omega enlarger. These prints are typically made on either Ilford brand paper or on glass dry plates.
Additionally, we practice various alternative processes. These includes processes such as cyanotyping, salt typing, and polaroid lifts.
Do you print your film?
We do produce black and white prints in our darkroom. However, most of our film negatives remain unprinted. Due to time and cost constraints, most of our film is shared through digital means, such as this website.
The black and white prints that we do produce typically remain in-house, although some have found their way into various homes and businesses across the country.
At this time, we do not produce any color prints in-house. Any color printing that we do is produced through Tempe Camera. This shop has been serving the greater Phoenix area for more than 50 years and continues to produce fine art prints of all sizes. If I'm interested in film photography, where should I start?
If you're located in the Phoenix area, we highly recommend Phoenix Film Revival, an organization dedicated to film photography in the Valley. Dan and Stacy offer numerous different hands-on courses for film photography or darkroom printing. Additionally, they occasionally offer open lab times for community members to use the darkroom equipment.
If you're not local to Phoenix, we encourage you to seek out a similar organization in your area. Film is more popular than ever and the community is growing more than it has in decades.
Can I buy one of your prints?
We have a storefront online, located here, where you can order some of our prints through our partner, framer.art. These prints are fine-art inkjet prints produced on-demand for customers.
